Steampunk Valet Box — Blue Poppy Studio

For the person who appreciates craft, complexity, and a little controlled chaos.

The Steampunk Valet Box is a hand-stained wood open valet tray, 6" × 6" × 1.5", designed to sit on a nightstand, dresser, or desk and actually hold the things that matter — wallet, watch, keys, coins, the small daily essentials that deserve somewhere intentional to land. But it's also simply beautiful to look at, and works just as well displayed on a bookshelf as it does in active use.

The exterior is hand-stained wood, finished with a complementary metallic paint trim. The interior bowl is decoupaged with a richly detailed steampunk illustration — gears, clockwork, and mechanical drama in deep amber, copper, and bronze — then finished with a smooth epoxy coat that gives it a gallery-quality depth and sheen. Where there is no epoxy, three coats of varnish protect the finish. Turn it over and you'll find a small surprise: a decoupaged gear motif tucked in the corner, signed by the artist.

Available in three designs: warm walnut with interlocking gears and clock faces on a dark ground; black with sparkling trim featuring an ornate Roman numeral clock surrounded by autumn florals; and silver-grey with a dramatic compass and layered gear composition in burnt copper and teal.

Each piece is one of a kind. When a design sells, it may be retired or reimagined.

Care The epoxy interior is durable and easy to wipe clean with a dry or barely damp cloth. The exterior is finished with three coats of varnish — avoid moisture and prolonged sun exposure to preserve the finish.
